Senior Technical Officer/ Technical Officer in Electron Microscope Unit (Biological Electron Microscopy) (Ref.: 534288) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or above in life sciences, biological science or equivalent, and excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese; strong interpersonal skills for user-facing support.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in research and biological electron microscopy are required;
  • Hands-on expertise with TEM and SEM;
  • Proven proficiency in ultramicrotomy and biological sample preparation for EM;
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot instruments and workflows, follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and maintain accurate records.

The appointee will play a vital role in the overall operations of the Electron Microscope Unit in Queen Mary Hospital. Responsibilities include assisting with the operation of electron microscopes, sample preparation, management procedures, and maintaining the facilities dedicated to electron microscopy.
