IT Manager / IT Officer (several posts) in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 533685) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability). Applicants with less experience will be considered for appointment as IT Officer.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Information Technology or a related discipline, with at least 3 – 5 years of relevant working experience including supervisory responsibilities. They should possess hands-on experience across a diverse range of technical areas, including:

  • Architect and maintain high-performance web applications using modern Python frameworks.
  • Utilize AI-assisted coding tools and advanced prompt engineering to accelerate development, enhance code quality, and streamline workflows.
  • Design, optimize, and manage relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Build dynamic, responsive front-end interfaces using JavaScript frameworks. Administer cross-platform environments (Linux, Windows, macOS), including system configuration, user and access management, security hardening, and proactive troubleshooting.
  • Manage Network Attached Storage systems for data storage, automated backup, and retrieval, ensure reliable and secure data access across the network.

The applicants should demonstrate a strong ability to integrate these skills effectively within a team environment, contribute to system architecture planning, and support ongoing IT operations. They should have a strong sense of responsibility, good communication and problem-solving skills. They should be a fast-learner and able to work well with the dynamic research team in a fast-paced environment.

The appointees will work with a research team to design, develop and maintain a web-based system for the management of a research project. They will analyze the needs of the research and formulate design plans based on the user requirements. They will be responsible for the programming and implementation of the web-based application. They will work closely with the field team to tailor solutions to their needs and provide on-site user training and technical support. Additionally, they will oversee the daily operation of computer systems at multiple sites and perform other IT-related duties as assigned.
