Assistant Service Manager (at the rank of Executive officer) in the University Libraries (Ref.: 530780) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a recognized university degree OR a diploma in librarianship, with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience, preferably in a supervisory position. They should also have proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); good communication and interpersonal skills; knowledge of Alma, Alma Analytics and Primo VE; knowledge of metadata schemas and standards, such as Dublin Core, MODS, EAD, VRA, etc., and controlled vocabularies, such as LCSH, LCNAF, and AAT; experience with creating, editing, and transforming MARC and non-MARC metadata; manipulate current data and metadata management with data tools such as Excel, Python, SQL and Power BI; demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work creatively, independently, and collaboratively; demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, computer/technological skills, and project management skills.
Reporting to the Collection Services Librarian, the appointee will assist in overseeing day-to-day operation of metadata processing for electronic and digital collections. He/She will also supervise and coach on metadata schemas as well as keep abreast of new metadata management trends and standards.
