Applications are invited for appointments as Senior Lecturer in the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) (Ref.: 530763), to commence on August 1, 2025 or as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in Journalism, Communications or related fields, with a substantial track record of professional experience in the journalism/media industries, or a strong teaching record in journalism education. Basic knowledge of digital media is required, while advanced knowledge and significant experience in Mainland China or Asia are advantageous. Priority will be given to those with SOLID experience in teaching professional journalism courses at the tertiary level.
The appointee will be responsible for teaching courses in the following areas: (1) Reporting and Writing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; (2) Backpack Journalism; (3) Feature Writing. They will also take a leadership role in curriculum and course development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Common Core courses for non-journalism students.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave, medical benefits and housing allowance. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
